Report: Clay Pigeon Club Round
After only running super one all year we decided to go back to our home club for a meeting. Testing on the saturday went well and i found time from the last time i was at clay and felt strong going into race day. Heat one went well and i was running in second for most of the race and was unable to make the move for 1st Heat 2 we had brake problems again like at Buckmore meaning a dnf. Heat 3 was a good one. i made the move for the lead on lap one and stayed there all the way through the race. i was given a 10 second penalty after that tho as i had passes the tram line at the start The final went really well. Starting 3rd i made the move to second on the first lap and then i followed the man in first till the 3rd lap where i made the move to the lead where i stayed for the rest of the race and pulled out a 6 and a half second lead |

Report: Buckmore Park Super One
Buckmore was a tough weekend for me and my dad. with lots of rubber down on track and a lot of heat we where finding our self trying to lose grip all weekend. The first heat was wet in the end and the kart felt good on the few laps we where given before the race started but i was unable to finish that race due to a brake system that was sticking on the second heat was also wet and we had fixed the brake problem by then. i started 23rd on the grid and climbed my was up into the top 10 at points but made a mistake on the 4th lap of the race hitting a large puddle and spinning whist running in 11th meaning i did not finish the race. day 2 and we where in the repacharge again. starting last i made my way to 8th on track having some good battles along the way. this then turned out to be 7th in the end as another driver had gotten a nose cone penalty |
Report: Llandow Super One
LLandow super one weekend looks promising from the progress we had made through the test day we had done the weekend before. In quail we lost time on new tires which saw me qualify a fair way down the grid. In heat one i made a brilliant start making up a load of places on track but then made contact with another kart which saw me fall back down the order and not make much progress from that point onward. in heat 2 i made another good start but a lead on the coil came off coming out of the hook which saw me not finish the race and in the repacharge the next day the next day i was feeling good and hoping to make it through the repacharge but on the first lap i found my self being turned in on causing me to not be able to turn which meant i was off the track and making contact with other karts that had also gone off. with the permission of the clerk of the course and the help of another drive i was able to get back into the race but a lap down. Even though i was a lap down i was one of the quickest if not the quickest driver on track and posted the 3rd fastest lap time before the race ended due to a red flag |

Report: Llandow Testing
I Had a good day out testing at Llandow today in preparation for Round 3 of the Super One British Karting Championships We started the day off trying a few different setup combinations but found our self running the same setup as we did at last years welsh champs at the end of the day finding time as the day went on!! The pace we had by the end of the day was good and i cant wait to race next weekend |
Report: Rowrah Super One
Rowrah was a tough first round to the season. The weekend was full off problems including a crash in P2, meaning that i did not make qualifying and a mechanical problem meaning the engine would not start in the 1st heat. I make the second heat and finished near the back but i am not unhappy with the pace considering my chassis was bent and there was nothing we could do about it Next up is GYG |
New sponsor and team for 2016
I am pleased to announce that i will be running with Attaq Motorsport for the 2016 Super One season along side my long time rival and friend Alex Tyler. I look to representing the team at a national level this year Also for 2016, i have obtained a new sponsor, Pullman AC, a Durham based company that service and repair mobile air conditioning systems. |
2016 Super One British Karting Championship
This year will see me make the next step up in karting Racing in Super One will mean i will be racing at the top level in the UK, with televised racing and big grid it will be interesting to see how i get on. With a entry of 51 drivers in senior TKM it will be very busy on the track but i will not let that slow me down having made leaps with my conference on overtaking and racing in the pack There are 6 rounds in total held at 6 different locations all over the UK and with round one fast approaching, i need to get my head in the correct place so that i can push hard and make a good impression among the drivers on the grid |
Next up: Clay Pigeon Turkey Trot IKR round
On the 12th of December i will be returning to my local track to take part in the turkey trot event. This event is ran every year and your race to win a turkey. it should be a fun event and its also being run as a independent kart racing (IKR) event for the first time This will mean using a hard compound tire that is supplied to me via the club for the days racing. I am hoping to have a fun day racing with some new faces and there is also a good senior TKM entry which makes me even more excited |
Race report: Buckmore park
Heat 1 heat one was wet, having not driven the track in the wet before it was a difficult one and a fell back down the order fast only to then jump a chain Heat 2 heat to went better. made a good start to the race sitting in 4th on the first lap. then made a move up into 3rd before the exhaust flex broke meaning i lost power and slid back down the order Heat 3 heat 3 was a good heat even though i was struggling to move up the order. i had a good battle with another competitor and managed to pass them with a lap to go Final the final was great. with some bad results and a dnf in heat 1 i was starting from the back of the grid. this meant i had to push. i had another track dice with other competitors in the final to bring the kart home 8th after starting 13th |
Race report: Forest Edge
Heat 1 first heat i started 14th on the grid and worked it up to 9th whist chasing down the driver infront but there was not enough time to close the gap down Heat 2 second heat i had a dnf due to a broken exhaust flex causing lose of power. Heat 3 3rd heat i started 1st. on the first few laps i was in second but was able to find my way past to lead most of the race before being passed in the last few lap and crossed the line with a gap of only 0.180 Heat 4 the final was not so good however!! with the engine not wanting to start i had to start at the back of the pack. off the line i found my was past a fair few karts but was forced out wide and had to take a little detour through the pit to rejoin the race!! then i had some work to do! i pushed hard making up all of the lost time and finishing 11th which was not bad at all after my bad luck |
Next up: Forest Edge
After the clay pigeon charity event i have a short break and will be back out at Forest Edge next in September. in this short break i have been helping people out at my local track and learning about other engines such as rotax and how they are setup and run Forest Edge is a track i have never been to before. im looking forward to racing at this track though as it has been a long time since TKM has raced there with good size grids. Having very little knowledge of the track means that there could be a lot that needs to be changed on the kart and a lot to be learnt about how to drive the track |
Race report: Llandow, Welsh champs
This time the TKM southern champs were out at Llandow. Being a circuit I had only been to a few times I was looking forward to learning the track and having a good weekend's racing. Qualifying 1: The first qualifying session on the Saturday went really well, I managed to put the kart 4th on the grid which was a surprise to myself and everyone else! Heat 1: I started 4th for the 1st heat. I became very nervous when on the rolling lap. Once the race had started, I made a few mistakes which meant I dropped way down the order and wasn't able to make up any places. Qualifying 2: the qualifying session on the Sunday morning was good even though I was only able to put the kart 7th for the second heat, posting a lap that was not much slower than the day before. Heat 2: For this heat I was 7th on the grid. I would drop back at the start again but work my way up keeping on the pack ahead. unfortunately I made contact with the kart in front causing him to spin and be collected by another driver. Even though I didn't get any penalty from this, I was still not over the moon to have finished 9th. Prefinal: I started low down the grid for this race and almost fell to the back in the first lap. After, I pushed on I tried to make up some places. Whilst doing this I made a small mistake under braking meaning the rear end of the kart came round which resulted in a dnf. Final: For the final I started way down the grid because of my dnf. Once the race had started I picked off drivers one by one. I dropped down again at the start meaning I had lost ground. I got past the karts running 11, 12 and 13 and then set off to hunt down 10th place. the gap was not small but i managed to close the gap and pass posting a 45.323 which was 7th fastest! Weekend summary: Llandow was long and was a huge learning curve for me and my Dad. We learnt how quickly the setup can change and how much different we had to run the kart in the hotter conditions. I found that by the end of the weekend i was also alot more confident with overtaking which is a great step forward! |
